I have been Ofsted registered since January 2022, but due to a house move did not open my home to childcare until May 2022. Previous to this I had worked for the past 10 years in Dentistry where I had experience in roles such as a Lead Dental Nurse and Practice Manager. Most recently I have been working in the NHS at a local community hospital in an admin role, but that contract came to an end 6 months after opening so that I could focus on moving my Childcare business forward. I still keep in touch with them and sometimes where I can provide cover I help out a bit.

I share my home with my partner, my 2 teenage children and our pets.

We live in a lovely old 17th Century Grade II Listed Farm House in a rural location in West Dorset making it the ideal place for a childcare setting. Our large enclosed garden backs onto fields with stunning views and plenty of privacy making it fun and safe for your little one to explore. The house itself boasts 4 separate reception rooms on the ground floor which are utilised for the childcare setting. Upstairs is our private space and children do not have access to this area of our home.

People often ask me why I made that career change from Dentistry/Medical to Childcare and honestly it was not something that was thought about until June 2021 when I attended a friends garden party and a guest there (friend of a friend) who had a 6 month old baby had been impressed with my interaction play and care of her child she could see that her baby was happy and fully engaged with me and she asked if I would consider childcare in the near future and she continued to tell me of her challenges and difficulties she had faced in finding suitable childcare placements and was soon planning on returning to work so was putting it out there that I could potentially provide childcare for her if I became registered and set up over the next few months. That prompted me to seriously consider this as a career path and business opportunity as it was something that I felt I would really enjoy. So I quickly set about researching and making plans to get the relevant training in place and registering with Ofsted. I dedicated my time to this business plan around my current part time job at the local community hospital in an admin role, moving quickly on it and completing all training. By October 2021 I had applied to Ofsted who then came out for my pre registration visit in January 2022 and the rest they say is history!

I am very pleased that I made this huge change, as I do absolutely love my job, working as a self employed person running my own small business from my own home and I find it a very rewarding role. Working together with families in providing Early Years Education, care, love, and nurture to these children and building beautiful relationships and bonds with families, watching these children grown and develop into strong, independent, confident and capable little people really is an honour and a privilege to be a part of their journey knowing you have made a difference in their life is a gift to be treasured. Yes it can be extremely hard work and challenging at times but well worth the effort and dedication and the rewards are great.
